A concept design for the green roof and façade of a LEED certified renovation in a high visibility location, this project plays on the theatrical idea of a raked stage to provide a better vantage of the angled green roof to passing drivers. Intended to be a living billboard for the city’s then recently passed green building initiative, the green roof spills over the built-up parapet to create a living screen designed to grow and proliferate over time. The screen functions as a shading device to reduce cooling costs and improve the quality of both the interior space and exterior surroundings, but also creates an immediately recognizable and striking identity: a building that appears to be both constantly under construction and continually engulfed by an overgrowth of greenery.
