Event Space
Miami FL
2009 (Concept)

The design of this flexible event space in Miami, Florida is centered on a lighting installation in the atrium’s double height space. As it moves into this area, the drywall lining that wraps around and within the existing building transforms into a series of draped monoliths, suspended from the ceiling in forms that distort the normal lighting grid of recessed fixtures into gathered clusters of intensifying light. A chandelier caught in a moment between dissolution and formation, the installation creates a focal point, drawing visitors between the two floors of the space as they circulate around, experiencing the installation from changing vantage points.
