Ballroom
Music Venue
Miami FL
2009 (Concept)

Designed for an owner intent on delivering a premier destination for live music, this ongoing concept development for a music venue northeast of downtown Miami, Florida is carved from the shell of an existing 10,000 SF warehouse. Ticketholders enter beneath a deep awning suspended above a glass façade, sheltering customers queued in line and allowing glimpses from the sidewalk to the stage. After funneling through a low corridor, the compressed entry spills into a wide viewing area that takes up most of the volume of the ground floor. An elongated bar to the left allows simple circulation for customers getting drinks while a raised platform to the right creates a more relaxed seating and viewing area.

The central focus of the ballroom is formed by a large double height space, offering vantage points to the stage from the surrounding balconies and tiered bleachers that drop into the void from above. An enclosed rear bar area creates a secluded lounge during performances and also offers the possibility of opening the venue to host nightlife on non-event nights. The building’s exterior is restrained save for neon signage on the roofand on the backlit marquee that creates prominent yet refined visibility and identity for the ballroom.
