Coinciding with Salone de Mobile 2015, Snarkitecture was commissioned by Swedish retailer COS to create an immersive installation inspired by the brand’s Spring Summer 2015 collection.
Located in Milan’s Brera district, over 100,000 meters of white fabric strips are suspended from an offset grid to infill the existing structure. The use of an industrial, non-woven fabric allows for natural light to permeate the space, alluding to the translucency of the COS collection and the brand’s minimalist aesthetic.
While visitors are invited into an environment that promotes relaxation and contemplation, the unexpected use of a familiar medium encourages exploration and play. Perspectives are ever-shifting as visitors make their way through the luminous cavern-like surroundings, drawing attention to the interplay between the material and the ephemeral.
